We Shall Not Forget, “Day Is Done, Gone The Sun…”

flag-cSince returning to this country in 1970, after serving four years in the military during the Viet Nam War, I’ve tried to express both my anti-war stand, coupled with my great respect for those who have served, or are serving, this nation to protect it’s freedoms.

I still get a lump in my throat as a parade passes by and the flag leads the way but it is always tempered with my sorrow of those who have fallen and those grieving their sacrifice.

No great words of eloquence can express a nation’s gratitude or profound loss.
