World Aids Day 2008

Since 1989, Bob and I have had a poster hanging on our wall that has become, over the years, a cherished keepsake of those friends no longer with us.

The keepsake is a simple poster for a benefit held at a bar in Akron called Tear Ez Too! It was a benefit held for “Children with AIDS” and stared a large array of performers from all over Ohio, in-fact 30 plus names appear on the poster.

Bob bar tended that night and it was a grand affair.

After the event, Bob took a poster around to all the performers and each signed their name; Devin DeVasquez; Brittany Fox; Valerie Hill; Amanda Knight and many more. Almost everyone that performed that night signed our poster.

Now 19 years later, only a few are still with us.

Three fourths have succumbed to AIDS and the poster, yellow with age, has become a memorial to our friends.

Both Bob and I have dedicated ourselves in supporting the “fight” against HIV/AIDS.

We ask that you take time today, on this International World Aids Day, and renew your commitment to the “fight” and if you haven’t joined the “fight”, please do, for this is more than a “gay” disease.
