Warren or “Worn” Out

In the “sad but true” category: A landmark florist shop, plus surrounding nursery, on Tod Avenue NW. was auctioned off this week and the figure $66 thousand dollars.

To add insult to injury, along with the florist shop there were three houses with garages, a 1 story and 2/2 story homes, also were auctioned off. Combined total for all three, $25 thousand dollars.

Whoever said that you pronounce Warren…”Worn Out” Ohio is not far from correct and we still have a year to the unveiling of the “Comprehensive Plan”.

We can only hope that whoever bought the homes has the wisdom and business cunning to section each home into three different low income apartments and watch that federal money ROLLLLLL in.

I was at the auction, and spoke to the person that bought it. She currently has a flower shop in Youngstown, and she is moving it up here. She rented her space there, and said that this would be a much better place for her to open. This seems to be a good move for her and I am just happy that she is opening it back up for business. Much better than it being vacant….

Agree with you about the business. I too feel that it’s better to use it then to see it closed…I grew up on the corner of Tod and Buckeye so I have a soft spot for the “ole” neighborhood.

I am sad that the three houses only brought a combined price of 25 thousand dollars.

Great news that a business will open in the flower shop. Anyone talk to the real estate tycoon who has decided to ‘invest’ in the three houses?

It is Dare To Dream’s understanding that the same person who purchased the business also bought the homes and will use them as rentals.
