The Making of Second Class Citizens in Warren
On March 18th, City Council AGAIN is revisiting the “Rental” property issue with the idea of forming a so called “compromise” but it still has the intent of making “renters” “second class” citizens. Why does Council feel that renters are more in need of protection than homeowners?
Does Council feel that we as “renters” are less able to form educated judgments in protecting ourselves and dealing with day to day problems that may arise between renter and landlord?
Are there not “bad homeowners” located in the City that need the same scrutiny? Is Council violating their “right to privacy” as you will with “renters” on any legislation that Council might pass?
Since Council is revisiting this issue, I’ll revisit my previous post since none of the questions were answered:
“I have several questions for Council concerning the proposed rental permits.
Why does Council feel that I as a renter have to have more supervision than those owning their homes?
Why does Council feel that my privacy rights are any less than those who own their own homes?
Why does Council feel that I as a renter should bare the cost of these proposed rental permit rate hike? There should be no real doubt that you may charge the owners of the rental property but it will be passed on to the renter and home owners reap the benefits without sharing the cost…”
