Market on the Square Goes Green and New Hours
Wednesday thru Friday……11-5
THE MARKET IS OPEN DURING THE WEEK
Can’t make it on a weekend? The Market is open during the week now, and artists are signing up to leave things on consignment. The products will be coming in on a regular basis so keep checking back to see what we have new in stock.
ARTISTS GO GREEN
The Market is making a serious effort to recycle, and the first steps have already been made by artists to go green. Many of the contributing artists create their artwork using recycled products? For example, the Market’s featured artist this month, Linda Parthemer, felts old wool sweater and creates pillows, finger puppets, purses, and stuffed animals out of the recycled goods.
Artist Doug Meyer recycles industrial and scrap metal and makes furniture out of them. We have a unique couch of his on display made out of an old wheelchair. He transformed three vintage sewing table bases into side tables.
The “Market” also carries new mirrors made from recycled tin ceiling tiles and wood molds from industrial plants. Their always looking for new products that are earth friendly, and look forward to being your supplier for interesting gifts and artwork!
THE MARKET GOES GREEN
Holly Taylor, the “chief of all duties”, has introduced compostable coffee cups and recycles all papers, plastics and metals that the Market on the Square can. They also have transitioned to cleaners that are non-toxic (their still attached to bleach products, but cutting down considerably – nothing yet beats a “Clorox clean in the sink”).
The “Welcome” mat is always out and they look forward to seeing everyone at the Market on the Square.
