Congressman Ryan on CNN
The Congressman was stressing that the “food stamp program” of twenty dollars (family of one) a week was not realistic in todays economy.
The Congressman did not hesitate when asked by the reporter about the fact that “food stamps were to be a supplement not the primary source for food”.
He responded about the effect that higher gas prices has had, especially on the cost of living for those on the program, thereby making the food stamp program the main means of feeding a family.
The Congressman also stressed that it is almost impossible for the present program to cover the bare essentials plus including fresh fruits, proteins and starches which are needed for health and mental well being.
Watching Congressman Ryan on CNN is along way from watching him play football for JFK but he still makes one proud.
