Where Has “Love It Or Leave It” Gone?
In the turmoil of the sixties, “love it or leave it” was shouted out from the right against anyone who stood up against the war in Viet Nam and even later directed at those standing against President Bush going to war in Iraqi
Now we have the conservative movement in conflict with their very own patriotism.
No-one held signs “love it or leave it” protesting the organized “Town Hallers” yelling at members of congress.
No-one has told so called “Birthers” to “love it or leave it.” Glenn Beck spews forth his nightly tripe and no-where is heard, “Hey Glenn, love it or leave it.”
Where was the “love it or leave it” protest when Rush Limbaugh uttered that he wanted the “President to fail” and thereby wishing America to fail?
When Congressman Joe Wilson shouted out on the Congressional floor to the President, “You lied”, no one shouted back, “love it or leave it.”
Now we have the gleeful celebration of the far-right in the failure of Chicago, no America, to obtain its bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Where is the cry, “love it or leave it?
Excellent T! This is exactly what I have been thinking for years now. I always feel that we as liberals, don’t express ourselves enough when it comes to these types of comments. I personally don’t want to sound like a right winger, they are deceptive, lying, arrogant, destructive bigmouths, who control 92% of the radio stations! This was all engineered 25 years ago with the loss of the Fairness Doctrine, under who else?~Ronald Reagan~ His presidency began the spiraling decline of political discourse in this country. People need to wake up, do their own research and stop listening to the drug addicts on the radio (both Beck and Limbaugh are)who seem to be running their party now..or the Unbelievable Liars on Faux News…I pray this era has hit bottom….I can’t imagine it going any lower than Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. I believe the root of the problem lies with the majority of conservatives who just can’t get over—and accept the fact—that a young, intelligent and politically-savy African/American now sits in the Oval Office, and is now one of the most powerful of world leaders. Had Obama lived in the south in the year that I was born,he would have, without any outward protest, made his way to the back of any far southern public means of transportation … and that’s where the likes of Beck and Limbaugh thinks he belongs.
