Angel Food Ministry and Warren
Several months ago, a friend’s mother came across a food program that has been very successful and passed that info on to him, who in return gave it to me.
That program is called Angel Food Ministry and their web site is http://www.angelfoodministry.com
Angel Food partners with churches and community organizations to distribute food to anyone no matter of their income status.
For thirty dollars, which Angel Food calls a unit, a family of four can get enough food to last about a week and a senior citizen for a month. Generally the value of food given ranges up to about sixty dollars.
Also, for additional twenty dollars, you can add on to the menu from several other options. Usually there are three to four options that basically include meat products.
In researching Angel Food Ministry, a Southern Faith Based group, I was pleasantly surprised at the local effort of those churches involved. You hear much about Second Harvest and the Warren Mission but it seems that others are quietly going about the business of “taking care” of the Community.
Those who are “Serving Neighbors One Box at a Time” in this area are: Covenant Family Fellowship and Community Center/Newton Falls; Praise Cathedral Church of God/Niles; New Covenant Baptist Church/Warren; Warren Baptist Temple; Warren New Hope Free Methodist Church and Tod Ave United Methodist Church/Warren.
Over the next few weeks I will be looking into other local ministries, such as clothing and free meals, which are “serving” the Community that many might not be aware exists.
These sort of programs show the “heart” and “value” of our City, County and “Valley”.
